Biography

Media Home

National award winning songwriter, vocalist, performer and multi-instrumentalist.

Wiles performed in many rock, country and gospel bands while growing up, and finding work was easy... there was always a need for at least one of the six instruments she could play! After playing in these bands along with a  fruitful solo singer-songwriter career, she decided to form her own band, the Mary Wiles Show. With this entertaining show she has toured extensively, especially on the fair and festival circuit.   Being able to bring the house down with favorites such as  "The Orange Blossom Special", "Dueling Banjos",  and "Hot Rod Lincoln’ (blues harmonica) she quickly reached popularity and acclaim, especially in the Pacific Northwest.  In addition to being able to play the banjo, fiddle, blues harmonica, mandolin, guitar and keyboards, Mary has been gifted with award winning singer/songwriter abilities.  Having won a slew of songwriting contests at an early age, she has been able to craft songs that speak to people’s hearts and inner needs.

Mary’s new inspirational rock and country CD, "Why Not Take A Chance" released on Bluetail Records with national/international distribution from Faithworks, has received a nomination for "Country Album of the Year" from the Gospel Music Association.  It is full of fun, motivational songs, two of which have already won songwriting awards.   The first two singles, "Why Not Take a Chance"  and "Worship Avenue", are receiving national radio airplay.
In the secular world, Mary has opened for Loretta Lynn, Tracy Byrd, and the 60’s hit making group, "The Association".  Her performances in Nashville have included the famous Bluebird Cafe.  She was one of three artists chosen out of Washington State to perform on a grandstand stage in the "Best of the Northwest’s Country Artist Showcase".  She won first place in a "Battle of the Country Bands"  against  ten excellent bands from the Northwest.   She has also been a featured artist at many major fairs in Washington State.  She has won awards from many songwriting  and vocal competitions, including Billboard  Awards. Some of these songs were released on Mary’s first CD, "The Wrong Side of Town".   In addition to being repeatedly compared to Barbara Mandrell because of her ability to play six instruments, she has performed as headliner at many events, and has been rated by the press as one of the top women performers in Northwest Country Music.

In the gospel world, Mary has opened for national acts such as Bob Bennett, Freddie Fields of  the 70’s Jesus Movement group Lovesong, and the comedy gospel act, Isaac Air Freight.  She also played at the Goodwill Games and Expo ‘86.  Her song "A White Horse" was featured on the album "In His Majesty’s Service" released on the MRC label with international distribution and airplay. During this time she also released her solo gospel album, "Prototape".

Journalists can visit Wiles’ "media room" for pictures and more information.

A unique and talented entertainer who brings life and fun to any event, Wiles is available for concert dates and touring.
